Currently under construction, this $20 million, 74,000-square-foot office building is situated at the corner of 11 Mile and Center Street.
Tenants will include research firm Gongos Inc.; the building's developer, Southfield-based Etkin LLC, which is moving its headquarters there; and Stout Risius Ross. Set for completion in Spring/Summer 2018, the project will bring more than 350 daytime employees to downtown Royal Oak.
The former Northwood Shopping Center at the southwest corner of Woodward Avenue and 13 Mile Road is being demolished to make way for this new $32.8 million development on the 15-acre property. A campus comprised of five main buildings will offer a grocery store, a 70,000-square-foot five-story hotel, restaurants and 110,000 square feet of retail space. The 183,000-square-foot complex will feature green space, landscape gardens and an assemblage area to host festivals and fairs.
Located at at 400 N. Main, formerly the home of a used-car dealership, a five story, 122-room Hyatt Place hotel is currently under construction in downtown Royal Oak and set to open in September 2018. Developed by Burton-Katzman, this proposed mixed use project will bring 428 parking spaces, 19,000 sf of retail and 77,000 sf of new office space to Downtown Royal Oak. Construction is planned to begin in 2019.
Kinetic Creations Headquarters
Demolition is complete and construction is underway on this mixed-use, two story building developed by Royal Oak-based Kinetic Creations as its new headquarters on 4th Street. Construction is set to be complete in Summer 2018.
Demolition crews have finished taking down the long-vacant Citizens Bank building at 218 S. Main to make way for a two-story building that will include a restaurant, retail and office space. Construction is anticipated to begin Summer 2018.
A proposed $40 million residential development, comprised of a four-story apartment building and 10,000 sf of retail space, is in the process of finalizing a development agreement with the site's owner, the Downtown Development Authority.
In 2015, Royal Oak successfully completed its crowdfunding initiative to transform the worn-out Center Street pedestrian plaza into a state-of-the-art ‘smart park’ that will incorporate many elements, including Wi-Fi, charging stations, solar panels, touch-screen kiosks, and sustainable landscaping. The project, which utilized the Michigan Economic Development Corporation's Public Spaces Community Places program, is now open.
