On Monday, March 5 the Royal Oak Woman's Club will hold its March meeting at its clubhouse at 404 S Pleasant Street at Fourth Street. Lunch will be served at noon followed by a program and meeting beginning at 12:45 PM. Speaking to the group will be Diane Zalecki, RN, Director of the START program of HAVEN in Royal Oak. The START program is a Safe Therapeutic Response Team that provides crisis support and sexual assault examinations to victims of rape. It serves 180 individuals annually. This meeting and $8 luncheon is open to the public, but reservations need to be made by Wednesday, February 29, with Emily at 248-762-6465.

The Royal Oak Woman's Club is a service organization which supports many local charities and provides scholarships to Royal Oak high school seniors pursuing an education in the medical field. Since 1907 it has been a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC), which is a unifying force bringing together local women's clubs with members dedicated to strengthening their communities and enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. With 100,000 members in affiliated clubs in every state and more than a dozen countries, GFWC members are community leaders who work locally to create global change by supporting the arts, preserving natural resources, advancing education, promoting healthy life styles, encouraging civic involvement, and working toward world peace and understanding.  Membership is open to all women regardless of residency.
