Public Service

The DPS combines under one umbrella many divisions that provide direct service to residents. This enables a coordinated effort in maintaining the City's infrastructure, planning for special events, and addressing emergencies such as water main breaks or severe weather conditions. The department's success is attributable to a well trained and dedicated work force.

Christmas Tree Collection - Trees will be collected curbside for recycling 12/28/09 - 1/15/10. Collection will occur on your regular trash day by a separate truck. Please place tree at the curb by 7:00am without decorations, lights, stands, and plastic bags.

Electrical Division: Traffic Signals, downtown lighting, etc.

Highway Division: Signage, street maintenance, street painting, snow emergencies, etc.

Leaf Collection Schedule: 2009 Collection Schedule

Motor Pool & Communications Division: Fleet maintenance and repair, facility maintenance, fueling, radio communications, emergency lighting & sirens, radar units, etc.

Parks and Forestry Division: Tree trimming and removal, grass cutting, park maintenance of equipment, baseball/softball fields, soccer fields, football fields and sand volleyball courts, etc.

Recycling: Recyclable materials, SOCRRA Drop off center, Recycling Roundup, etc.

Refuse & Solid Waste: Collection Area Map and Routes, regular refuse, recyclables, yard waste, brush clippings, chipper service, bulky items, paint cans, broken glass, also Holiday delay pickup

Sewer Division: Miss Digs, Sanitary sewer cleaning, maintenance and repair, FAQ's, etc.

Water Maintenance Division: Water mains, valves(gates), services, fire hydrants, FAQ's, etc.

Water Service Division: Meter readings, investigating high water usage, new meters, possible water leaks, cross-connect inspections, etc.
