Royal Oak Parks: Lawn Season Comes Early

Spring has blossomed early in the City of Royal Oak and the grass in our lovely parks is coming up fast. The Department of Public Service wishes to inform residents that those charged with maintaining these park landscapes are mostly college students working their way through school as part-time summer staff. They are not available for lawn cutting until May, as most are still in school until then.

Royal Oak’s Director of Recreation and Public Services, Greg Rassel: “thanks the City of Royal Oak residents for their patience as the growing season has started early. Our main focus will be on mowing baseball diamonds and soccer fields until early May when we’ll be staffed to cut more park areas.” Rassel also commented: “we have made some early attempts to use our heavy equipment in the parks but the ground is still too wet and soft. Our mowers just sink in.” The City of Royal Oak desires all residents to have a safe and happy spring!
