ROPD Crime Mapping Tool

The Royal Oak Police Department is pleased to announce a new crime mapping tool that is now accessible to all members of the public. The crime mapping website, www.crimemapping.com, will display the crime type, location, date and time of occurrence of all crime reports, excluding sex offenses, taken by the Royal Oak Police Department. The interactive map will populate different icons for the different crime categories, allowing users to quickly identify the types of crimes occurring in Royal Oak.  Additionally, users will have the ability to sign up for alerts to be sent to their computer or smart phone for any crimes reported within a predetermined radius of their home or business.

Offering the new crime mapping tool is part of meeting the police department’s on-going effort to keep residents informed while also a City Commission objective, brought forth from the Strategic Planning meeting.

Communication - Implement communication systems using technology
to communicate to residents in “real time”

This is an excellent opportunity for the community to see what is occurring in their neighborhoods and notify the police department of any suspicious activities they observe. We invite you to visit the web site and sign up today.
