The Rules Committee will meet on Monday, July 11, 2011, at 6:00 P.M. in City Hall Room 309.

Mayor Ellison's 2011 State of the City Address will be held at the Emagine Theater from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 12, 2011. The address will be part of the Rotary Club's luncheon event, and tickets are available at the City Clerk's office until 4:30 P.M. on Monday, July 11th.

On Wed, Jun 29 from 07:00 p.m. - 08:30 p.m. in the Royal Oak Public Library Friends Auditorium there will be a presentation of the book titled, "A Footpath in Umbria: Learning, Loving and Laughing in Italy". The Grosse Pointe author Nancy Yuktonis Solak’s book details the joys and challenges she and her husband experienced while living in Umbria for a year. A self-professed reluctant traveler, Nancy found the trip transformative for the couple as it challenged their habits, their upbringing and their outlook on life.Read more »

The Royal Oak Historical Commission has decided to harvest some of the current crop of plants and will be holding a Porch Sale on Saturday, June 25th at the Orson Starr House, 3123 N. Main St, a block south of 13 Mile Rd.  This sale will take place between 9 AM and Noon, rain or shine. There will be a minimal charge for the plants.  The variety of flowering plants available can generally be seen from the front walk.Read more »

State Representative Townsend invites you to join him On Friday, June 24, for a Senior Resource Fair to be held at the Mahany-Meininger Center, 3500 Marais Ave, from 9:30am to 11:30am. This free event will feature representatives from Congressmen Levin and Peters, the Michigan State Police, Senior and Caregiver Resource Network, Community Housing Network, Inc., the Michigan Commission for the Blind and the Area Agency on Aging 1-B, offering information and services related to health care and other issues of interest to seniors.

Saturday, June 11 is Opening Day at the Royal Oak Public Library for the 2011 Summer Reading Programs! In-person registration begins at 10:00AM with over 100 programs for youth, teen, and adult participants to choose!! As part of the Opening Day activities, farm animals will be on the library lawn from 11:00AM to 3:00PM and we will have crafts and other activities. Programs this summer include more than just reading with puppet and magic shows, live animals, music, water rockets, science experiments and many, many, more. All offered at NO CHARGE.Read more »

Kids Club Live is an annual event for kids age 2-7 and will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 28 & 29 starting at 9AM at the Royal Oak Farmers Market. DPTV will host a sing along with Barney the purple dinosaur, have PBS characters strolling around and greeting kids, offer a Be-On-TV booth, a Reading Rainbow tent, small rock climbing wall, inflatable bounce houses, clowns, face painting, cultural organization information tables, and a petting zoo with various animals from Wolcott Farms. National Coney Island may also be on hand to sell food and refreshments to those in attendance.Read more »

This will be a free community event held in the St. Paul Lutheran Church’s parking lot (on the corner of Main and 6th street). There will be free hotdogs (1,000 of them!), crafts, military care package construction, and—of course—a blessing of bicycles (and all other wheeled means of youthful transportation!) every 15 minutes.Read more »
