Special Earth Day Event

Beaumont and the ROPD are collaborating on collecting for a special Earth Day Event. Drop off unused or expired medications, mercury thermometers, and sharps on Tuesday, April 22, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. We have to get these darn drugs out of the medicine cabinets and off the streets! Adopt A Park For A Day

The City's Department of Public Service is hosting the 2014 Adopt-A-Park Park Cleanup Weekend on April 26 and 27. The city is looking for volunteers and groups to adopt a park for a day and clean up any debris and leaves they can find. Call the DPS at 248-246-3300 between 7:30am and 4:00pm prior to April 25th to register! There are 50 parks in the City of Royal Oak! We would appreciate any help you can give! 

Kidney Walk at the Detroit Zoo

Sunday, May 18, 2014, the National Kidney Walk to benefit the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan, will be at the Detroit Zoo. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., Walk starts at 8:30 a.m. For additional information, visit the National Kidney Walk at the Detroit Zoo.

Severe Weather Awareness Week - Special Siren Test

Governor Rick Snyder and Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson
have declared the week of April 6-12 as Severe Weather Awareness Week. A special siren test and activation on the outdoor warning system is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. today to help promote severe weather safety preparedness. The Bullycide Project

Royal Oak Schools, Optimist Club of Royal Oak, Support Our Youth Task Force & Royal Oak SAFE Present The Bullycide Project on March 19, 2014 at Royal Oak Middle School.  The Bullycide Project is based on the book Bullycide in America, compiled by Brenda High and written by mothers who have lost a child to suicide due to excessive bullying. The Project tells the true stories of ten individuals who committed bullycide, as well as personal stories of members in our cast on subjects ranging from isolation to cutting.Read more »

The RO Environmental Advisory group is hosting a scrap metal and electronics drive on Saturday, May 3, 2014, 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Department of Public Service Yard (1600 N. Campbell). If available, we will have compost, chips and a paper shredder. Nothing is too big or small - bring it all!

Holistic Health and Wellness Expo

The expo features, 50 practitioners to meet individually with attendees, 16 min-presentations and several exercise classes All to help people become familiar with alternative modalities to reduce pain and discomfort with less reliance on addictive prescription drugs and to incorporate lifestyle choices that promote healthy mind, body and spirit.. SOAA Art Therapy
