Attention: Adult Men's and Coed Softball league registration is now open. We will begin accepting adult softball team registrations on Tuesday, February 8th for all returning teams. Open registration begins Tuesday, March 1st. We will continue taking registrations until leagues sell out. Check here for the complete softball registration package.

Photo Policy: On occasion, the City of Royal Oak Department of Recreation and Public Service may take photos of participants enrolled in sponsored programs or parks. Please be aware that these photos are for Department use only and may be used in future brochures or flyers.
Royal Oak Recreation is a member of the Royal Oak Opportunity to Serve Foundation, established by the city to accept donations and endowments for the improvement of civic institutions. Team registration is handled in the Recreation office in City Hall. Registration for most leagues is done six to eight weeks prior to the start of the season.

Athletic Associations
A volunteer Board of Directors in co-operation with the Recreation Department manages the following youth athletic programs:
Registration for fall football and cheerleading will be held at the Royal Oak Senior Center on Marais and is usually in April (Check the ROFL website for current information).
All forms will be available at the registration.
Everyone needs a COPY of the birth certificate, recent photo, a sports physical dated after April 15th. (the physical can be handed in later)
To get started with the registration, the COPY of the birth certificate, photo and check is all that's needed.
The indoor, bubble-domed structure has been operating in Royal Oak for several years. The facility offers soccer leagues, camps, clinics and tournaments for soccer players from age 4 to 40 and older. Senior / Community Center Rental
Meeting rooms at the Community Center are available for rent by non-profit groups during the evening hours. Room set-up and takedown is the responsibility of the requesting organization. The Center is unavailable for private functions, such as birthday parties, wedding receptions, family reunions, etc. Check here information regarding rental policies and fees or call (248) 246-3900.
Picnic Shelter Rental
Groups may reserve the picnic shelters at Starr/Jaycee Park and V.F.W. Park. Royal Oak residents have priority to reserve a shelter January through June 1 for next summer; starting June 2, non-residents may apply. Rental fee is based upon the size of the shelter:

Ballfield Reservations
Royal Oak residents can reserve various ballfields on weekends during the summer for a nominal fee. Call the Recreation Office (248) 246-3180 one week ahead for weekend field reservations. Permits issued weekdays only, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.
Outdoors Special Events
Use permits are required for all outdoor events including but not limited to running events, fund raisers, festivals, tournaments, weddings and any other event that may take place on public park and/or city facilities.
Gymnasium Rentals
There are a few remaining time slots left for gymnasium rentals at the Salter Community Center. The cost of renting the gym is $70 per hour. For more information and available times please call 248-246-3180.
Farmers Market
The Farmers Market is available Monday thru Friday, January - April, for any hours; Beginning May 1st, Fridays are reserved as market days. Saturdays - From 3 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. all year. Posted Occupancy - 700. Market rental is $100.00 per hour with a 5 hour minimum or $1300.00 for the entire day (beginning as early as necessary for the event, ending at 11:00 p.m.) For more information call 248-246-3276.

In its continuing effort to provide quality recreational opportunities for its citizens, the City of Royal Oak created the Parks and Recreation Master Plan as a tool to guide the development of City-maintained recreational facilities and locations. An extensive recreation plan was conducted in 1999. The 2006 Parks and Recreation Master Plan is the latest effort by the City to establish new recreational goals and objectives for the community, which focuses on maintenance and development.

| The Royal Oak Recreation Department publishes all programs and classes in the Insight newsletter. Insight is our seasonal brochure which is mailed to every household prior to registration. It is also available in the Recreation office, Senior/Community Center, City Hall, and the Royal Oak Public library.
Registration Form: Download the Registration form here (in Adobe Acrobat pdf format). Complete the form and mail it, fax it, or bring it to our offices. In order to be completely registered, we must receive your payment before the program registration deadline date. Payments must be mailed in with your registration form or brought into our offices. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Checks Payable To: Royal Oak Recreation
Use separate checks for different classes when registering by mail in case one of your desired classes is filled. (Insufficient Funds on Checks: There will be a $35.00 "Returned Check Charge" to all accounts for checks that are returned from the bank. NSF accounts that are not paid in full within 10 days of notice are sent to the Oakland County Prosecutors Office for criminal prosecution.)
Refund Policy: Your satisfaction is our most important objective. Refunds will be granted up to one week prior to the start of activity, less a $5 service fee. Refunds will be granted after the first week of class, less $10 service fee plus cost of classes already held. No refunds will be granted after the second week of class. No refunds once a camp has started. No refunds on one day classes. Allow three weeks for refund check. Fees charged on credit cards must be credited back to your credit card "Less Service Charges Indicated".
Waiting List: All registration is accepted on a "first come, first served" basis. If a desired class is full, ask to be put on the waiting list. Classes may be added if the facility and instructor are available.

This is a juried fine art show sponsored by the Royal Oak Arts Council and Royal Oak Recreation. For more information please call 248.246.3180. Each year, artist applications will be available mid-January. All applications are due back March 15. If you are an artist and would like an application to our show, check here. The show is set amoung the beautiful trees of Memorial Park and offers a unique blend of fine art and fine crafts. The show attracts artists from across the country and has national ranking as one of the top fairs in the United States. Art work will be for sale in many categories including: drawing, painting, photography, clay, collage, glass, metal, wood, jewelry, leather/fiber, and mixed media.
The Art Fair offers an excellent opportunity to purchase an original item for your home, office or as a gift. Food concessions will be on site for lunch and dinner. No dogs allowed in the Park.
Tree Lighting Ceremony
6:15pm Thursday after Thanksgiving.
Handbell Choir, Salvation Army Band, Refreshments and Holiday Magic at the Farmers Market.
