Mayor Ellison is a life-long resident of the City of Royal Oak. He and his wife Jodie raised a family of 8 children and currently have 6 grandchildren. He has been mayor since December 2003 and, with his reelection in 2011, he became the City’s first elected 5-term mayor. He has been involved in city government since his first election as a City Commissioner in 1991, having served as Chairman of the Plan Commission, Chairman of The Woodward Dream Cruise Liaison Committee, President of the Housing Commission, as well as serving on numerous other city committee’s during his career. A self-proclaimed car guy, Mayor Ellison is proud to claim the Metro Detroit Area home.
